Before you enquire
How often do RCDs need to be tested?
RCD testing intervals are set by the standard and by the environment, not the calendar. Fixed residual current devices in a commercial building are typically on a six monthly push button test, with trip time testing less frequently, while construction sites and higher risk areas are tested more often. We assess your site, set the correct interval for each board rather than applying one schedule to everything, and give you a retest schedule so it does not fall through the cracks. Electrical inspections can be carried out on the same visit.
What happens if something fails the test?
This is where we differ from a testing franchise. A tester writes the failure up on a defect report and leaves it for someone else to close out. Our electricians are licensed to do electrical work, so where the fault is repairable, for example a failed RCD, a faulty emergency fitting, a damaged lead or a loose connection, we repair or replace it and retest on the same visit. You get a compliant site at the end of the attendance, not a to do list.
Do you provide compliance certificates and reports?
Yes. Compliance work is only worth doing if the paperwork stands up. Every job includes an itemised report of what was tested, pass and fail results, the repairs carried out, a compliance certificate and the next due date. Formatted so it stands up to an audit or an insurer request.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the site. The item count, how many separate areas we need access to, and when we can get in all move the number. That is why we look at the site rather than price it blind over the phone. Tell us what you are dealing with and we will come back to you on how we would approach it.
Do you charge a call out fee?

Will testing disrupt our tenants?
That is usually the real question. We work per tenancy or per floor, agree access windows with your building manager first, and report per tenancy so you can recharge cleanly. Occupied floors, back of house and plant all get scheduled around how the building actually trades.
Can you work outside business hours?
Two different things, so it is worth separating them. If something has failed and you need an electrician, we attend 24/7. Scheduled compliance testing is done during business hours, and in practice that works for most buildings because we plan the visit around how the site trades and stage it floor by floor so only one area is affected at a time. If your site can only be tested outside business hours, tell us upfront on 1300 045 103 and we will be straight with you about whether we are the right fit.

We are an electrical business with our own licensed electricians, under NSW electrical contractor licence 180022C, that carries out compliance testing. That means we can test your site and also carry out switchboard work, RCD replacement, fixed wiring and repairs. A testing franchise cannot do the second half.
